The Minister of Trade and Industry was given a guided tour of Kårstø, followed by lunch and a tour of Haugaland Business Park. The Minister was impressed by what he saw, not least when it comes to synergy opportunities.
- "Haugaland Business Park is an exemplary example of how to plan green industry, and there is no doubt that we are now in the middle of the Norwegian epicenter for this development. You're ahead of the curve here, and the way you work can help you become not only the best in the country, but also the best in Europe," said Vestre, who was keen to pave the way for battery and hydrogen production, among other things.
Beyonder talked about its major battery investment in Haugaland Næringspark, and told the minister what was important to them in their future work. "They aim to have 500-600 jobs at the factory in the park by 2026. And if everything goes according to plan, this could eventually mean as many as 2,000 jobs.
- "This is Norwegian history," exclaimed the Minister of Trade and Industry.
- It was an incredibly useful and good visit, and I feel we were able to highlight how many synergy opportunities we have in the region, not only inside the business park, but also together with good neighbors, such as Kårstø. I felt that the minister was impressed by how well we already work together," says Tiril Fjeld, General Manager of Haugaland Business Park.
Mayor of Tysvær, Sigmund Lier, emphasized the many opportunities for the circular economy.
- With a number of different industrial establishments within a short distance, there will be many opportunities to use each other's waste as input factors for a cost- and resource-efficient operation for all parties. This is important in order to achieve a sustainable industry in practice. For example, Kårstø has wastewater that Beyonder's battery factory at Gismarvik could benefit from," says Lier.
