More than 100 locations throughout Norway have submitted bids for the three companies' large-scale factory establishment, and after several rounds it is now clear that Haugaland Næringspark is among the finalists.
This is good news for Tiril Fjeld, General Manager of Haugaland Næringspark.
- "This is good news for the whole of Western Norway, and confirms that Haugaland Business Park is one of the most suitable locations for new green industry in Norway. "We're delighted that the three companies see the opportunities that lie at Gismarvik for an establishment like this. We have 5,000 acres that have been regulated precisely for purposes such as this, while at the same time we have ample access to green power, infrastructure in place, and a unique location in the middle of a strong industrial region with a lot of relevant expertise and access to labor.
According to the three companies, around 2,000 skilled operators and personnel with higher education will be needed for the new establishment.
- There are a number of factors that will determine which location the companies ultimately choose, but we believe we have a comprehensive and good solution that meets all the needs of the factory, and see Haugaland Næringspark as a very good alternative," says Fjeld.
- Of course, there's still work to be done before we finally reach our goal, and as the project itself says in today's news, relations with the EU and punitive tariffs on electric cars with Norwegian-produced batteries can be a challenge. We hope that our politicians understand the importance of getting these things in order.
Haugaland Næringspark is owned by the five municipalities of Tysvær, Karmøy, Haugesund, Bokn and Vindafjord, and the region as a whole welcomes the establishment of the battery factory.
