Statnett has today submitted a license application for a new 420 Kv power line to Haugalandet. The planned power line will initially provide 500MW and will land in a new substation in Haugaland Business Park. Earlier this year, it was announced that Haugaland Business Park and Gassco have entered into study agreements with Statnett for the new line.
- We want the new green jobs, and the fact that we can offer enough power is important for this to happen," says Tiril Fjeld, General Manager of Haugaland Næringspark.
Haugaland Næringspark and the owner municipalities; Karmøy, Haugesund, Tysvær, Vindafjord and Bokn believe this is an extremely important day for the further development of Norway's largest regulated business area!
The owner municipalities are united behind the business park and are clear that success here is important for attracting new jobs and increased value creation for all municipalities in the region. Mayor Jarle Nilsen of Karmøy municipality clarifies:
- The new power line means that we will be ready to receive large area and energy-intensive establishments in Haugaland Business Park. More power is also important for our existing industry, not least if we are to be an attractive region for new businesses.
Elisabeth Vike Vardheim, Executive Vice President for Construction at Statnett, believes that electrification is an important part of the climate initiative.
- "We are pleased that we have started the licensing process for the project. The new power line will be an important contribution to the electrification of society and the realization of plans for businesses in Haugalandet. It will also ensure a secure power supply for the region in the future," she emphasizes.
