Zero visits Haugaland Business Park

On Tuesday, May 6, Haugaland Næringspark was visited by the environmental foundation ZERO for a day of tours, professional discussions and workshops on green industrial development and restructuring.

Three representatives from ZERO participated in the visit: specialist manager Anne Marit Post-Melby, project manager for oil transition Iselin Fjeld, and industrial advisor Thomas Ulstein, who works with carbon capture and industrial transition, among other things.

Green industrial chains

Throughout the day, guests gained insight into the development of Haugaland Business Park and the opportunities that lie in the region's focus on future industry. The program included a tour of the business park, where participants were able to see several of the industrial areas and ongoing establishments.

One of the stops was at Norcable, which is currently building a new cable factory in the business park. The establishment is an example of how Haugaland Business Park is facilitating new industry and value chains related to electrification and the green shift.

Joint workshop

The visit concluded with a workshop and discussions between ZERO and local industry players. The theme of the gathering was green transition, competitiveness and the framework conditions that need to be in place to successfully develop the low-emission industry of the future in Norway.

The discussions addressed, among other things, the need for access to power, land, infrastructure, and long-term political framework conditions to secure new investments and industrial jobs.

For Haugalandet and Rogaland, green transition is particularly important. Over several decades, the region has built up strong expertise and value creation related to the oil and gas industry, and much of the future economic base will depend on the ability to develop new, sustainable industrial jobs. At the same time, the industrial experience, supplier environments and access to expertise give the region a good starting point for taking a leading role, also in the industries of the future.

Haugaland Næringspark thanks ZERO for the visit and for the work the organization does to promote better framework conditions for Norwegian low-carbon industry and future-oriented value creation. Thanks also to all representatives from local industry who took the time to contribute important input to ZERO's work.
