Exciting meetings and great interest during ONS

ONS 2026 was a success, and Haugaland Business Park experienced great interest during the conference, both nationally and internationally.

This year's ONS had #courage as its theme, and was held in Stavanger from August 24th to 27th, and all these days it was possible to meet Haugaland Næringspark at stand 4020 in Hall 4.

AT THE STAND: Municipal Manager for Technical and Industrial Affairs in Tysvær Municipality. Asbjørn Moe, Tysvær Mayor Monika Lindanger and General Manager of Haugaland Næringspark, Tiril Fjeld.

– ONS is a unique opportunity to meet new and old contacts and to present the business park to many different stakeholders. We had a very good turnout at our stand, and it was very nice that Mayor Monika Lindanger and Business Manager Asbjørn Moe from our host municipality Tysvær were with us on one of the days, says Tiril Fjeld, General Manager of Haugaland Business Park.

Meeting with Australian authorities

In addition to meetings at the stand, the business park also participated in a number of bilateral meetings during the conference.

Among these was a pleasant reunion with a delegation from the Government of Western Australia, led by Minister Stephen Dawson. Dawson serves as the government leader in the Legislative Council for the western part of the country, and is the minister for, among other things, regional development, ports, science and innovation, business development and more.

– Australia has some of the same challenges as us when it comes to how the industry should meet requirements and exploit opportunities, and they also see that the key may lie in increased collaboration between different industry players. We had very useful conversations, and shared experiences from forward-looking solutions such as Industrial Symbiosis and our CCS partnership, says Fjeld.

CCS launch

At ONS, the news of a new name and new partners in the regional CCS collaboration was launched.

AT THE STAND: Finn Sæther, business developer at Haugaland Business Park, and the park's general manager, Tiril Fjeld, visiting the stand during ONS.

– We are proud of all the brave players who have decided to join the CCS SørVest collaboration – across the value chain, says Fjeld.

Vår Energi, Aker BP ASA, Shell, Molgas Energy Group, Equinor, Norsk Hydro, Eramet Norway, Forus Energy Recycling, Knutsen NYK Carbon Carrier, Gassco AS, Haugaland Business Park constitutes the partnership in CCS Southwest.

– We are also applying for support from Gassnova for a feasibility study that will, among other things, look at how emission volumes in the southwest can be included in a value chain for CO₂ management where storage takes place through direct offshore injection on the Norwegian shelf, she says.

Fjeld was also part of the program committee for the CCS portion of the program under ONS, which experienced great interest and very high participation this year.

Haugaland Business Park is already looking forward to the next ONS conference!
